CPC worked with Lithium Australia to develop a unique process flowsheet to produce saleable lithium carbonate from lepidolite and spodumene in partnership with ANSTO Minerals (a division of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation).
Due to the commercially sensitive nature of the project, CPC worked under strict NDA’s including restricting access to information to selected employees. As part of the development; bench and large scale pilot plants were designed and trials completed for staged studies up and including FEED. The project was progressed on the basis that a hydrometallurgical facility was to be built in the Kalgoorlie region.
