West Perth contractor CPC Engineering has secured two new contracts in the red-hot gold sector, bringing in $24 million worth of new work with AngloGold Ashanti and Capricorn Metals.

CPC will provide engineering and design services to AngloGold for a new pre-oxidisation and leaching circuit to be built at the Sunrise Dam mine, with a view to improving gold recovery.

The contractor previously carried out engineering work for the Sunrise Dam feasibility study and has been engaged by AngloGold for other gold recovery work.

CPC chief executive Glen Weir said the contract would allow the company to grow its workforce.

CPC will also design a new processing plant for Capricorn Metals’ Mt Gibson project, where the company recently completed a pre-feasibility study.

The plant will be capable of handling around 5 million tonnes of ore per annum, with an expected 17-year life.

It will be delivered from CPC’s headquarters in West Perth.

“In partnering with Capricorn Metals, CPC Engineering continues our proud, 54-year tradition of providing innovative and cost-effective engineering services to the market,” Mr Weir said.

“We look forward to going beyond expectations at Mount Gibson, ensuring all works reflect market, stakeholder and community expectations.”

Work in the state’s gold sector is in high demand this year, with a flurry of activity in planned project development and merger and acquisition activity.

Among those in the news this week are the Hemi and Havieron gold projects – both the subject of M&A activity –Catalyst Metals’ Plutonic East project and Spartan Resources’ Dalgaranga gold project restart.
