Our Story

Humble Beginnings

CPC commenced operations from a small office and fabrication workshop in Kambalda in 1970. The original owners identified a market niche for mine and plant maintenance and engineering services in and around the Kambalda region, particularly for major client; Western Mining Corporation.

In the 1980's and 1990's, CPC gradually expanded its operation to include a machine shop, stainless steel fabrication and a small fleet of mobile cranes, trucks and light vehicles. In addition to process plant work, CPC gradually expanded into underground maintenance and construction. This side of the business continued to grow until the late 1990's when CPC had gained an industry wide reputation for the design, fabrication and construction/ maintenance of mining related infrastructure projects.

Growing Workforce

The workforce had grown to 35 personnel by that time and the company had amassed a broad range of plant and equipment including underground registered cranes, trucks, integrated tool carriers, light vehicles and specialised tooling. The company had also built a sandblasting and painting facility which when combined with CPC's other services gave it a strategic advantage over its competitors.

Early in the 2000's the demand for CPC's services grew to such an extent that the company expanded beyond the Western Australian Goldfields and began taking on work from across the state. Within 12 months, the company had increased its workforce to 50 personnel and expanded its client base to well over 30 companies. In 2006 the Board of Directors made a strategic decision to grow the company.

As a result, CPC Engineering undertook a major upgrade program at Kambalda and established two new divisions in Kalgoorlie and Ravensthorpe. At the same time the company actively pursued key leaders in their chosen professions to increase its skills and expertise in the fields of engineering, finance and occupational health, safety and quality.

Expanded Footprint

With the rapid growth and demand for engineering design and construction services within Western Australia, CPC Engineering responded to market demand in 2011 by opening its Project Design office in Perth as well as a Construction and Maintenance division in the Pilbara region. The success of this expansion led to the addition of the Karratha division in 2018 adding some key skillsets and widening CPC Engineering serviceability to the Pilbara.  All operations work collaboratively with the Perth head office to provide their clients with a full scope of engineering studies and services.
