Newcrest Mining, Western Australia, O’Callaghan’s Tungsten Project
CPC undertook a scoping study for the O’Callaghan’s Tungsten and Polymetallic Metals project that included the compilation of capital and operating cost estimates. The developed flowsheet comprised of crushing, recovery of a high sulphide-tungsten gravity pre-concentrate in the grinding circuit, re-grinding of the gravity pre-concentrate followed by sequential flotation of the copper/lead/zinc/metal sulphides from the pre-concentrate, high intensity magnetic separation for the removal of paramagnetic gangue minerals from the pre-concentrate flotation tailings, followed by the recovery of the tungsten minerals using gravity separation on the non-magnetic stream fraction, a final sulphide flotation cleaning stage, and high intensity magnetic separation of the sulphide cleaner flotation tailings to produce separate wolframite and scheelite products.
