Removal of Acid Leach Pipe Line
Client: First Quantum Minerals Ltd
CPC was engaged by First Quantum Minerals Ltd to remove the atmospheric leach tank pipes from its Ravensthorpe nickel operations leach plant ,located 550 kilometers south-east of Perth, Western Australia.
The works required removal of the atmospheric leach tank drain lines for refurbishment of the rubber lining. The challenging scope of works were hindered by inaccessibility to pipe lines, difficulty navigating live acid lines between tanks and performing under extreme heat conditions generated from operational processing works. Operating conditions required CPC crew to carry individual respirators, wear mono goggles and maintain constant radio contact with process control to ensure capable process and ISO compliance.
Extreme care was required during the removal process to overhead piping and tank shells to ensure these items were not damaged and left intact. The project was delivered under a detailed safety management plan prepared by CPC with a comprehensive JHA. All crews were required to complete inductions for site access to commence work.
CPC Engineering provided the following services and personnel:
- 20-55 tonne cranage, rigging and EWP
- Boilermakers, riggers and trades assistants
